November 04

Dear family and friends,

Well, another few days of recovery are behind me. Time flows at a much slower pace than the old days. But each day is a little better. I feel a little more healed and a little more alert. So far, today feels like a good day. The Lord continues to bless us with comfortable weather for me to take walks outside. My sisters have gone home, as well as Mike’s mother, so they can now settle back into their normal lives. I am so grateful for their having been here.

Medical Update:
To help manage the production of ascites (abdominal fluid), on Friday I had a pleural catheter inserted into my abdomen. This will allow me to drain the fluid at home, as opposed to going to Radiology every time I had excess fluid. This will be much more convenient until the fluid is no longer being produced. Mike assisted me with this yesterday, without fainting! I was so proud of him.

Cards and flowers continue to arrive. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and for keeping my spirits up!

God’s blessings to you and your holy families.
Maureen

Maureen, thank you for writing. It's wonderful to know that you are walking and also have a more convenient way of dealing with the fluid. The pictures are marvelous...You are giving us gifts...prayers continue. Love, Peter and Barb

You sound like you are in such good spirits... I am sure that the abdominal cath will help you feel a little more comfortable and Mike will be a pro at helping you to drain that catheter in NO TIME! I wish that I could be there to help you, too... Hugs and Kisses!
Love, Mary

Hi from Florida!

Thanks so much for the update and it's so good to hear you're healing daily. I know from experience that abdominal surgery is the pits. And today you were in my prayers when I received communion. I, too, wish I was closer so I could be there to help you in some way. We all send our love! Please give that nephew of mine a big hug for me. He is a treasure. And so are you! With lots of love, Auntie Kathy PS. The pictures are WONDERFUL! Thank you!
