I am so amazed and encouraged by the letters from all over the world. Old friends from Spain and Norway, not to mention all over the USA. And from Joe and Katie in Japan. The globe is covered with thoughts and prayers of healing! I could never ask for more.
My sister, Theresa, has been such good company for me and the family. Her faith is as strong as a rock, and radiates in the house!
Even though it has been a difficult few days, as Joan mentioned, I only need to think back to a month ago and remember how far I've come. The second Advent candle was lit at mass tonight. This is such a special time of year, when everyone's spirits seem to be directed toward love and giving. God's blessings to you all for a safe, healthy week.
One day at a time,
Maureen

To beautiful Maureen...Kathy Miller
Hi sweetheart! Thank you for the update! I guessed that you probably felt lousy for the last couple of days, but let's hope by tomorrow you'll feel a little better and a little stronger. We pray for you constantly...you're always in our thoughts. We included you in our petitions at Grandma Casey's funeral, and we know she is now another special angel knocking on God's door, asking Him to heal you. Her service was so prayerful and beautiful, and we missed you and Mike very much. But first things first...you must rest and heal. You're right...you have come a LONG way from a month ago! And with Theresa there, you will be able to continue to work toward good health once again. I got to talk just a minute to your Mom, Catherine and Theresa after Mom's funeral. Wasn't that nice of them to come?! You have a very special family who loves you so much! Sending love!! Auntie Kathy |
Hello from the Hennesys Pat Hennesy
Hi Maureen - I'm so glad you have Theresa there with you. Having family around when you need them is invaluable. Thank heavens you've taken such great care of yourself throughout your life, it's paying off now. We're praying everyday along with so many others and know you have more than enough strength to take a few more chemo treatments. All of our love, Pat and Kathy
Hello from Scottsdale! Theresa Schaefer
This sister of mine is AMAZING!!! Though the last few days were hard for her, I NEVER once heard a complaint. The side effects of round 3 seem to be subsiding a bit and Maureen is feeling a little better today with no meds, except a little Ibuprofen. Her color is good and her energy level seems much better. She is taking great care of herself, getting good nutrition and rest when needed. How blessed I am to be here with the Casey's. (and besides, it's 60 degrees here and only 20 in my home town!!) Keep it up Maureen you're over 1/2 way!! I am so proud of you and I love you!!

Hi loved ones! Kathy Miller
We're all freezing up here in South Dakota. I guess tomorrow I'm going to have to break down and buy a winter coat. I'm so glad you all live where it's warm, so Maureen can get lots of sunshine and fresh air. I just think of you all the time, and want you to know again today how much you are loved! I hope you have some pep in your step today. Let us know if there is anything you need help with. God bless Mike, Maureen and family! Auntie Kathy

Sounds like you have a a rough couple of days. Just want you to know that I was at adoration last Friday and I went to mass on my lunch hour today and remembered you in prayer. My heart always goes out to you when I see you have had some tough days because I just want you to be well and to feel good. So that just means more prayers must go...and I will gladly do that for you. Strength be yours just for this most precious day and everything you need for tomorrow will be given to you. Maureen - The Blessings of another day! Joan Lentner
Good Morning! Lucky you aren't in Minnesota as we are going to have a high of 10 above and it was negative windchills this morning. I was thankful the bus showed up on time. Before work this morning I stopped at church to and lifted you in prayer so that you would have a day of renewed strength. You have made it another week (even though I'm sure there were some tough moments) but you are now another week closer to being healthy. I am always excited by all of the tiny steps forward...each one comes with renewed for the good days ahead. Wishing you a great weekend - soon we will light the 3rd candle on the advent wreath. A very holy time of the year filled with blessings for you Maureen. Sending lots of love from Minnesota. :) Joan , LH - Mpls
We Love You!!!!! Jeanne Hassel
I haven't been able to log on for a few days... Mom has kept me posted though. Hope you are feeling better! Here's a meditation from my Advent 2007 - Reflect today on one time in your life when God was present in your fear. This week whenever you face a situation that invokes physical anxiety, take a quiet moment to recall the memory of God's presence, then reach out for God's hand. We all keep praying for your comfort and peaceful trust, Maureen. You are so strong and beautiful!!!! We Miss you and love you! Jeanne, Greg, Claire, Anna & Maria
Another hello from St. Paul Steven Gallagher
