November 07, 2007

Our dog, Telluride, is perfect in almost every way. Unfortunately, he sheds, but we easily accept that over any other potential bad habit. When we brush him, we first walk him to the end of the driveway, and while brushing, watch the clouds of fur float away.

Last night, while I was brushing my hair I wondered if I shouldn't be standing at the edge of the driveway. My hair is beginning to drop in small bunches. But I'm ready for that! A week ago, I was pleasantly surprised to receive one of the beautiful scarves my mother wore during her chemo treatments years back. It's a beautiful midnight blue and pumpkin color. Perfect for the season. (thank you, mom)

I feel blessed to have each of you sharing your thoughts and prayers with me and to my family. So here are thoughts for you:
We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it. 1 Corinthians 4:12.

God bless you all,
Maureen

Maureen -

When I go to PVCC I see your smiling face coming around the corner of the Pro Shop, usually after you posted a good round as the premier golfer in the Casey family. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you every day, and that we miss you.

Love to you, Clint

Hi Maureen! It's so good to hear from YOU!! You sound like you are settling into your home and are more comfortable with your surroundings. I am glad you are getting extra help with the catheter and you talked me into eating one of my left over Halloween almond joys, toasting you and your continued recovery! Love and Prayers, Laura Gassen

Just wanted you to know we continue thinking of you in Texas. During their prayers every night, Alex and Gabe go through the line-up..."God Bless grandmas and grandpas, aunties and uncles..." and they always remember to add a special prayer: "And God Bless Maureen!"

Thank you for reminding us all to relish the simple joys in life - a Halloween movie tradition, the shining sun, a beautiful scarf. You are an inspiratio to us all, Maureen!

We love you, Courtney, Steve, Alex and Gabe

Yes we have already seen a few snowflakes! Do you ever miss the Midwest? We miss you! Maureen, You are so beautiful, Hair won't even matter! I do think of you and your family often, and am praying for much healing where ever it is needed. My four-legged friend whom I love just jingled the bells to go outside and I am reminded how wonderful it is to have that companion when you aren't feeling so hot. Blessings come in so many ways. I pray that your journey is filled with much light and peace.

Much love, Cindy

What a memorable gift that Grandma gave to you! That scarf can give you hope--- a reminder to you of her fight against cancer, her strength, courage and ultimate triumph --- as she is now a cancer survivor x2!! I remember how Grandma always looked so beautiful and radiant in her different scarves as she was receiving her treatments- I am sure you will also! Keep your spirits up! Love, Mary

The Ocean

Hi sweetheart! Steve and I spent the night at the beach condo, and while outside on the balcony, the ocean waves sounded so powerful and constant. I think I can say that that's how prayers are flowing to you....never ending, always flowing straight to your door. Keep up the healing! We love you sooooooo MUCH!!!! Aunt Kathy

I have thought about you all week and of course have prayed many times a day for you. Yes, you may be losing your hair, but you are on the road to recovery and your hair will come back. That's the great thing about our bodies. The chemo in a sense takes away our hair but our body comes right back and starts anew with more hair. The healing process continues in so many ways. Even though your journey is very difficult right now, I know and believe that God is with us every step of the way. And so when we have those down moments...God is right by your side. I have always loved the way something special happens just at the right moment. May you experience many special moments today and in the coming weekend. God's graces are flowing to you right now and my prayers continue. You "will" make this journey with all of your family and friends and sometimes strangers right at your side. Blessings to you Maureen. And now it's time to :) :) Try a Pepsi...it puts an immediate smile on my face. Take care Maureen

Maureen -

That's GREAT news as far as I'm concerned! This means that the fast growing cells in your body are dying!! Even if it means losing your hair temporarily, it more importantly means that the cancer cells are also dying!!! You are getting well dear sister. Here's a passage for you sweet Maureen:

Matthew 10:30 "30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don't be afraid;"

You are beautiful with or without hair......inside and out!

Remember when we used to use dad's drawing paper and make paper hair? We'd cut it in thin white strips and tape it around our head, cut the front to make bangs and then some of us would get fancy and use a sissors to curl the ends. What were we thinking? Only a Green!

I love you so much.....keep getting well. I can't wait to see you!
Theresa
Admiring you!

Maureen,
The photos are wonderful, thank you for sharing them! I actually hung up one of your family Christmas photos in my office last week because I missed seeing your smiling face around here each day.

Thank you for your updates - as always, your words mean so much. We are all here to give our support to you, but somehow you have a gift that gives your strength and support back to all of us that love you. You are so brave and such an inspiration to all that know you. <3>
